The bonus DEF scaling makes a large difference later on, and the additional flat shielding especially makes a difference immediately. Much like for the Destruction variant, you will inevitably get all the eidolons just by playing the game.Į1 is spectacular, making your basic attacks deal additional fire damage equal to 25% of the Trailblazer’s DEF, increased to a whopping 50% for enhanced basics! This provides an extremely significant increase to damage, especially since you’re likely to be building for DEF anyway.Į2 improves the passive shields by blocking an extra 2% DEF plus 27. Both of these effects are exceptional, and only serve to boost Preservation Trailblazer’s power even further. This may not be active all the time, but it is a fantastic bonus to have that will be active fairly often. If protected by a shield when your next turn begins, you get a 15% ATK boost until the end of the turn and regen 5 energy. This may not come up often as the need to use the provoke depends on the circumstance within a given encounter, but alongside the consistent shielding, this can be a fantastic way to radically reduce the damage from an unavoidable, hard hitting AoE attack.Ī4 allows enhanced basics to heal 5% max hp, offering even greater survivability and self-sustain, but the really interesting one is A6. These strengths only increase with investment due to the bonus abilities from traces and the eidolons that you’re eventually going to get all of.Ī2 gives a 1 turn 15% damage reduction for all allies upon using your skill. Having zero cost improved toughness damage on the enhanced basic attacks, as well as a damaging ultimate, means breaking an opponent is very easy, and reliably done. Oh, and it also automatically enhances the next basic attack without affecting your current Magma Will stacks.īecause of these factors, Preservation Trailblazer is not only a fantastic support and shield unit that also deals good damage, they’re also also a fantastic breaker unit. The ultimate has quite impressive atk% and def% multipliers, dealing damage to all enemies on the field, and as already mentioned, reapplying the talent shields to all allies. The sheer quantity of shields really adds up over the course of a fight to block a frankly absurd amount of damage. ‘But this shield doesn’t block that much!’ True, but it’s reapplied on every action including the ultimate that you can use mid-enemy-turn. In addition to the Magma Will mechanic, every action that Fire Trailblazer takes applies a 2 turn shield to all allies with a relatively low shield durability that’s based on your DEF. All of this, and it still recovers a skill point on use as well. At 4 stacks, the next basic attack becomes enhanced, dealing increased damage, increased toughness damage, and it becomes aoe dealing damage to enemies adjacent to your target. Doing a basic attack or skill, or getting hit, will add 1 stack of Magma Will. Do note that it is a proper provoke, meaning if this debuff is successfully applied against enemies, they are guaranteed to attack you, meaning this circumvents enemy lock-ons as well. The skill taunts all enemies and gives a large amount of damage reduction. Widely applicable in quite literally every situation, whether there’s a fire weakness on the field or otherwise. This is a unit that can occupy a supportive shielding role, whilst dishing out very impressive damage and consistently recovering SP for the rest of the team. Incomparably superior to the Destruction variant.
